UCLA continues to expand its commitment to community service in Los Angeles. On September 22, 2009—the
first UCLA Volunteer
Day—nearly 5,000 Bruins fanned out across city schools, beaches and Griffith Park to tackle jobs like painting, clearing brush,
digging and picking up trash. At the end of the day, they could see the results of their efforts: even a few hours make a
difference if they are multiplied by thousands of volunteers.
