UCLA is a shared public asset, owned and operated by the people of California. All 38 million of them.
So support comes from everywhere. UCLA undergraduates, recent graduates, alumni, faculty, Bruin parents,
corporations, foundations and sports fans—all united by their belief that this is where excellence
comes first. We invite you to join these recent UCLA donors and support the work that will enrich our
community, our nation and the world on a daily basis.
UCLA supporters are a broad, diverse, interesting crowd. Learn more. Click on the images below.
Alumnus: Darryl Johnson '70, CERT '92
Darryl Johnson's passion for supporting UCLA began as a kid, when his family listened to his dad's stories about being
a Bruin. "My father studied and ran track at UCLA in the 1940s when there were only a few African Americans on campus,"
Darryl says. "The greatness of UCLA became infused in all of us." Today, in addition to being a generous benefactor in
academics and athletics, Darryl is also a valued member of many campus committees and boards.
Friend: Dallas Price-Van Breda
Mountain climber, pilot, motorcycle rider, grandmother. Multitalented Dallas Price-Van Breda is also a leading philanthropist
at UCLA. Her abiding passion? Art and the encouragement of young artists. "Today it's especially difficult for students to
pursue a talent in art," Dallas explains. Among her many gifts to UCLA, she established the Dallas Price Endowed Fund for Art
"to help make it possible for UCLA's art students to fulfill their career hopes."
Parents: Melissa and Tim Draper
"Our support for education starts with our own children," says Melissa Draper, who is a parent of three Bruin students with her
husband Tim. The duo has generously supported UCLA arts, architecture, athletics and more—all through the UCLA Parents Fund.
"The benefits for our kids and their peers are just the beginning," Tim explains. "A more educated community increases
opportunities for leaders to emerge and for innovation, and that benefits everyone."

Faculty: Thomas Calcaterra
"We hope that our gift will enable the division of head and neck surgery to maintain its status as one of the foremost
otolaryngology training programs in the nation," explains Professor Emeritus Thomas Calcaterra. He and his wife, Ellen '81,
endowed the Thomas C. Calcaterra, M.D. Recruitment Fund for Head and Neck Surgery in his former division to support the
recruitment of future department chiefs and new faculty. "This donation is our way of giving back to a division that was
very good to us."

Foundation: California Wellness Foundation
A longstanding UCLA benefactor, the California Wellness Foundation has provided a generous grant to support the work of
Professor Timothy Malloy and the Sustainable Technology Policy Program (STPP). Their interdisciplinary research and educational
outreach activities at the schools of law and public health advances efforts to reform toxic chemical policies. The goal:
to protect our health and environment.
