Because of proximity to the entertainment industry, the School is ideally suited to recruit distinguished theater, film and television artists. Private gifts also support teaching assistants, labs and equipment to ensure the highest level of instruction.

TFT Angels is the School’s premier philanthropic group, providing critical funds for the School’s most sensitive and urgent needs each year. The Archive Council enables the UCLA Film & Television Archive to continue its outstanding efforts to preserve and showcase not only classic but current and innovative film and television.

Nurturing extraordinary artists in an era of dwindling public funding is an ongoing challenge. As a TFT donor, you can help educate the next generation of theatrical and media storytellers, artists and scholars.

UCLA is the only major university in the world to formally recognize the close relationship of theater, film and television. Students move with ease from stage to film to electronic media in a professional atmosphere. In a survey by The Princeton Review of more than 500 undergraduate theater and film programs, the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television’s departments of Theater and of Film, Television and Digital Media ranked first in their respective categories. The graduate programs in both departments consistently rank in the top three nationally, and the School is the only public school represented.

These strong academic programs are enhanced by exceptional resources such as the Geffen Playhouse, one of Los Angeles' most prestigious performance venues; and the UCLA Film & Television Archive—the largest university-based film and television archive in the world. The School educates the finest young theater and film actors, designers, directors, filmmakers, writers, producers and critical studies scholars. Resources from friends and alumni help recruit and retain the most talented and professionally promising students as well as the most brilliant historians and critics. Students are committed to an intensive program of coursework and/or production, leaving little opportunity for outside employment during the academic year. Scholarships and fellowships bring honor to student recipients and offer ongoing, much-needed assistance and recognition.

Resources are also needed to attract diverse and respected faculty from around the world to share their knowledge and expertise.
